A Georgia Message Board Poster Broke the News That Nick Saban Was Retiring and Joining ESPN Before the College Football Playoff

There's nothing better in college football than a crazy message board poster actually being right. For every 1,000 insane posts about how a friend of a friend heard that a private plane is picking up Urban Meyer, you get one of these gems. And this Georgia fan must have a hell of a source or be the best guesser on the planet, because he nailed this one.

I haven't seen a dollar figure attached to Saban's contract at ESPN, but let's just say this guy is right and he really had this scoop instead of just being incredibly lucky. So you're telling me Saban had agreed to and possibly signed a deal with ESPN either before or just after 13-1 Alabama was controversially included in the College Football Playoff — a property in which ESPN holds a massive stake and the exclusive broadcast rights — over 14-0 Florida State? Hmm …

That timing just seems a little too convenient for my liking. ESPN gets the biggest name in college football and Saban gets a chance to ride off into the sunset with a win at the Rose Bowl followed by one last national title. Obviously the script didn't go according to plan, but that part was up to Saban after the fact.

I don't know what governing body would look into this sort of collusion — the NCAA has no control over the CFP and will cease to exist in the very near future — but someone needs to launch an investigation. If BustinSkyDawg was right, this could be one of the biggest scandals in college football history.

I'm going to get to the bottom of this.
