Jack Russell Terrier Guards The Body Of Her Owner For THREE MONTHS While Lost In The Rocky Mountains As She Survived On Insects and Chipmunks

It's the cold, shitty part of the year where we're still not used to losing sunlight at 430pm and we are all falling asleep around 9pm because fuck the winter. It's on that note that I'd like to offer a piece of life advice on how to entertain yourself the next few days:

Grab yourself a glass of brown liquor, a joint, or whatever narcotic you'd like and fire up "Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey", narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson. In it, there's a real cool 5 min segment on the evolution of dogs and how they came to be man's best friend:

I love that series, FWIW, in spite of NDT being an annoying fuck on all other mediums. But I digress; whether dogs luckily evolved to the point where we have a perfect symbiotic relationship with them or whether they were some divine creation, it doesn't matter. They're still the best things on earth regardless.

It's the loyalty, as any dog owner knows, more than anything. If you walk in through the door after having a shit day in the cube, they got your back through and through.

And NOBODY is more loyal than Finney the Jack Russell Terrier. Take a look at this story below via the Daily Mail

A loyal dog stayed by her dead owner's side for nearly three months on a hiking trail - and the starving pup weighed just 6 lbs after surviving on insects and chipmunks, and fending for herself in the Colorado mountains.  Rich Moore, 71, and his black and white Jack Russell, Finney, disappeared on a hike on August 19 in Blackhead Peak, located in the San Juan Mountains in Colorado.

The arduous search for Rich and his dog was the 'most comprehensive' in the Sherriff's team's history - and despite having other K9s searching for Finney and handlers calling out his name in the mountains, it did not lead to a sighting.

Finney, who had most likely had to fend off other wildlife during the fraught 72 days and nights alone in the mountains, had long scars on her nose.It was only when the team offered starving Finney a can of wet beef dog food that she came close, and was able to be captured in a blanket by Roy Vega, Archuleta County's Deputy Director of Emergency Management.

Goddamnit, if that doesn't bring a tear to your eye nothing will. What an angel Finney is. I hope she got home to a nice fat couch, a pile of red meat, and all the love in the world. And that's exactly what you should do tonight too: go home and give your dogs a big ass kiss on the forehead tonight and cherish every goddamn moment moment with them.

And on that note, it's 10:28am CST as I construct this blog. I have to prepare for the GREATEST DAY IN EMPLOYMENT HISTORY!!!
