There Was Not A Sadder Man In America Last Night Than This Twins Fan After Dropping A Foul Ball

I love baseball more than anything in the world. Sometimes, it's the only thing that ever makes sense to me. With that said, I can't imagine a circumstance in which I would ever be this upset over dropping a foul ball.

Maybe my mindset is just different. I'm not really a big foul ball guy. I've never caught a foul ball at baseball game. I've never caught a home run ball. It's just not something that's not important to me. Clearly, it was very important to this fan. This dude was going through it. I don't want to make any baseless accusations, but I'm going to make some baseless accusations. I don't think this dude was upset about the foul ball. Something must've happened to him this week that led to this foul ball becoming the only thing he had to hold onto, which is ironic because he didn't hold onto it.

There are 1 million unwritten rules in baseball, but I don't think we've ever properly established foul ball etiquette. I'm 28 years old. If I ever caught a foul ball, my initial instinct would be to give it to a kid. The game is a kid's game, after all. That doesn't make me better than anybody else. Perhaps it's unhealed trauma from the fact that nobody ever gave me a foul ball when I was a kid.

I'm guessing this gentleman woke up in cold sweats last night thinking about the foul ball that got away, but things should be looking up. The Twins are going to the postseason where they probably get swept like they always do, but at least it's fun to get there. Whatever sad boy shit this guy is going through, I hope he deals with it privately. He'll have plenty more opportunities at the ballpark.
