You Are A Gigantic Loser If You Cry About "Running Up The Score" In Any Sport

I have no idea if that's just a troll tweet or not, but after the absolute dismantling of the Broncos by the Dolphins yesterday I couldn't help but see this topic all over my timeline. Yes, in the year 2023, it appears that we're still doing "running up the score" debates and I'm sorry but of all the stupid debates we have in sports, this one has to be the most embarrassing.

To me, it doesn't matter what sport we're talking about here. It could be football, it could be basketball, it could be hockey or baseball, the point remains the same for each. If you don't want a team to score a billion points/goals/runs….stop them. It's that simple. Don't go crying afterward about respecting the game or any of that bullshit. Take care of it in the game and stop the bleeding. If you can't, that's your problem.

Now I can understand if you're the side that is delivering the ass kicking maybe you take your foot off the gas to some degree to respect the Sports Gods. That's different in my opinion. But whenever someone gets their ass kicked and we start hearing about "running up the score is disrespectful" I never understand how anyone could argue for that side and be completely serious about it. This is competition! This is about lacing it up and trying to destroy your opponent. If the other team shows no signs of being able to stop you, too bad for them. Welcome to sports.

For example, one of my favorite cases of this came just last NBA season. The Celts went into Milwaukee to face a fully healthy Bucks team and waxed that ass to the tune of a 140-99 final score. It was glorious

It wasn't the Celts' problem that Tatum and Brown combined for 70 points and the team went 22-43 from deep. Again, if the Bucks didn't like it they could have done a better job at trying to stop such an offensive explosion. They couldn't, and the ass kicking ensued.

Keeping it in the NFL, this is really no different than what we had to hear when it came to the Brady/Moss Patriots. When they were putting up 50 with ease and kicking the shit out of everyone, we heard the same bullshit…and that was in 2007! Last time I checked, both sides get paid correct? This isn't a case of the varsity team taking advantage of the JV team or anything like that. Everyone is a pro. Sometimes in professional sports you get your doors blown off. That's life.

Honestly, I always thought that this topic should have been one of the few instances in sports where literally everyone agrees. So every time we see a situation like this pop up and you hear rumblings about a team or an owner or fans being upset about the fact that they just got completely demolished, my brain can't really comprehend it. Mostly because you know those same people wouldn't have any issue if it was their team putting up 70 points. That's really what I think it all boils down to. They're embarrassed and jealous that it wasn't their favorite team to do it.

To that I say A) grow up and B) if you cry about this in any capacity you are a gigantic loser.
