The Angels Knew Anthony Rendon Had A Broken Leg For Weeks And Just Forgot To Announce It

The Los Angeles Angels mismanaging a player? What is this, a science-fiction movie? I've been pretty critical of Anthony Rendón as a player. I wrote several weeks back about how that contract is one of the worst in sports right now. He's barely been able to play because of injury, and he's been largely ineffective when he has played. He's a far cry from the player who was a Washington star for a long time. But I'm going to cut him some slack here.

For a minute, the narrative was that Rendón was giving the media and the organization a hard time by not talking about his injuries. Well, it turns out the Angels have known about his injury for a long time. Rendon has had a fractured Tibia this whole time.

I've never in my life seen a dumber organization. Everything that the Los Angeles Angels do, I would do the opposite of that. Their ability to gaslight players is second to none at this point. They are a pestilence of an organization, and their best course of action should be to clean house, trade Mike Trout, cut Rendón, and literally start from scratch. How do you not disclose a player's injury? They had this guy out there on an island for a while, making it seem like he was the villain. Rendón has not lived up to expectations, but you won't play baseball with a broken leg. No one can play with a broken leg, except for Greg Jennings in that one game of Madden.

Rendon would say that he hasn't thought about whether or not he'll come back next year. I don't know if that means he's implying retirement. He isn't a free agent until 2027. As I said, I think the best course of action right now is for the Angels to divorce everyone. It was already going sideways, but their reckless decision to buy at the deadline, only for them to put all of those players on waivers several weeks later, will go down as one of the dumbest decisions by a professional organization ever. With any other team, the Rendon saga would be one of the most talked about in the league. Sadly, given the way the Angels have been going, this shit is par for the course. What a mess.
