Saquon Claims He Had Some Sort Of 'Epiphany' (Wink, Wink) That Changed His Mind About Sitting Out Into The Regular Season

Let's get right to the point because I have two strong feelings here. 1) Of course I'm happy Saquon is in camp, playing on the contract that doesn't handicap the team. 2) Are we supposed to feel bad for Saquon or the other running backs? Because I sure as shit don't. I've said it before it and I'll keep saying it because it's true. Don't pay running backs a shit ton of money because it's not worth it. Look around the league at teams who are regularly competing for Super Bowls. How many of those are using a workhorse type running back that is getting paid a ton of money?

The answer is 1 and it's only because of a trade. McCaffrey and the 49ers. It's just the way the modern NFL is. No one is saying running backs aren't important or having a guy like that isn't important. It's just not sensible to pay a running back that sort of money when you can pay 2-3 guys to fill the 1 void.

As for this epiphany? Come on man. You had the Zoom call with other running backs, realized how bleak it is out there and had a $10 million deal sitting right there. That's the epiphany. Hey, I can go play on this one year deal, make a decent amount of cash, maybe more with bonuses and then let's see what happens. I will say I think he's 100% right here and at least is self-aware:

So welcome back, Saquon. I'm happy to have you for one more year and maybe more on a respectable deal. That's where I'm at with this whole thing. But let's not act like there was some major epiphany to change your mind. It was money, a zoom call and the market. Maybe something changes in the CBA, but this is just how it is for now.
