Delusion At Its Finest: Saquon Thinks He Can Show His Worth By Saying 'Fuck You To The Giants And Not Playing A Down'

This is what we're doing now huh? Okay, well, here we go. Let me do the responsible thing here and note this was from a podcast originally recorded on July 11. This hasn't stopped from Saquon sounding delusional. Go ahead, Saquon. Go ahead and say fuck you and not play a down. That will work out well. That's how you'll make sure to have a long career: [Source] - For those that don't remember: Bell refused to sign his franchise tag before the 2018 season and instead chose to miss the entire year before hitting free agency the following summer. He wanted a new contract after leading the NFL with 406 touches in 2017. The Steelers reportedly offered him two contracts worth less than Bell's desired $14.5 million annual number, which promoted his year-long holdout.

Sadly that decision pretty much signaled the end of Bell's football career. While he did earn a lucrative four-year, $52.5 million contract with the New York Jets in 2019, Bell and the team mutually parted ways early in the 2020 season after 17 games of mediocrity. Bell then bounced around between the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens and finally the Tampa Bay Buccaneers between 2020-2021 before being released by the Buccaneers in January.

No one is out here saying Saquon is a bad player. He's a damn good running back. But welcome to the NFL. Welcome to business in general. There's a salary cap, the market dictates what you're worth. Of course quarterbacks are worth more to a team. Of course there are premier positions and all that other stuff. If Saquon doesn't play a down this year it's not like the Giants season is over. I say this all the goddamn time. Look at the best teams in the NFL. Look at their running backs. Out of the top-15 rushers 2 were on true Super Bowl contenders - Miles Sanders (let go right after the season by the Eagles) and Christian McCaffrey (only on the list because he was traded to the 49ers).

So go ahead and sit out. What happens if Eric Gray comes in and rushes for a couple 100 yard games? Maybe Matt Breida gets some touchdowns and the Giants are just fine. You can have thoughts about the franchise tag and all that shit, but sitting out is a career blow, even for a dynamic running back who can't stay healthy.

I hated the Saquon pick when it happened because it was clear the Giants weren't close to competing. Now I hate that we're in this standoff and contract dispute. Fuck it. Saquon isn't the Giants, it's that simple. Dare him to show his cards. Dare him to sit out (while paying fines) and act like everything is just okay. This whole thing is so goddamn dumb man.

Don't mind me:
