Casting My Dream Lineup For “Quarterback” Season 2

The new Netflix show “Quarterback” has taken the internet/sports world by storm immediately becoming the number 1 show on the streaming platform and apparently a smashing success for Peyton Manning’s first venture in the media production game. For those living under a rock its an 8 episode documentary season embedding themselves in the lives of Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Marriott for the entire 2022 season. Mic’d up for every moment on and off the field. A fascinating inside look at exactly what goes through a quarterbacks mind as he faces the tumultuous highs and lows of a NFL season.

I loved the way they did the tiered casting in terms of picking three QBs in three very different situations and it got me to thinking, what would be my dream cast for Season 2?

1) Joe Burrow

Mahomes was a great watch as the clear best QB in the league but to switch it up and still keep some elite star power I’m picking Joe Shiesty as my A guy here. The second best QB in the league in my opinion and just oozes confidence and charisma out of his pores. Would love to see my guy Joe Breezy go shopping for some Cartier shades and then throw four touchdown passes on a Sunday. I’m sold.

2) Geno Smith

I love the idea of Geno Smith being my ”Kirk Cousins“ of season 2. As likable and endearing as Kirk Cousins is in season 1, he’s incredibly boring as a person. Nothing wrong with that, but I think Geno would bring a little extra entertainment value to the program. Geno’s had to eat a lot of shit and spend a lot of time on the bench to get himself to this point where he’s the clear cut starter on a returning playoff team and just signed a huge contract in the offseason. Sign me up for some more one liners like “They wrote me off, but I ain’t write back.”

3) Rookie QB (Anthony Richardson)

Nothing against Marcus Mariota personally, but his part of the show was somewhat of a flop. The middling QB who loses his job didn’t do it for me and apparently not for Netflix either considering he was barely in the last few episodes. Certainly didn’t help that he left the team after he got benched for Desmond Ridder. I don’t know how realistic it is, but I would LOVE if one of the three early rookie QBs were one of the focuses of the show. I think it would be fascinating watching that process up close and personal. For the sake of choosing one I chose AR because he's clearly the most volatile when it comes to how his season could play out so why not swing for the fences right? Let the common folk see what it’s really like to go from college student to multi millionaire and face/leader of a franchise in a matter of months. I’m all in on it.

Who would you guys want to see cast for season 2?
