"I Knew They Were Fucking Trash" - Patrick Beverley Spoke Nothing But The Truth After Burying The Raptors On Their Own Floor

The Bulls had such a weird season this year. Heading into 2022-23, this was a team that had spent time atop the Eastern Conference in 2021-22 before injuries fucked them, and on paper there is a ton of talent on this roster. They have three All Stars in DeRozan/LaVine/Vucevic, they have a guy who is about to make 1st Team All Defense in Alex Caruso, Patrick Williams is still such an intriguing prospect and also very legit defensively for his size. Coby White can get hot. This team has talent!

After a 3-2 start to the year, things quickly went south. Lonzo Ball's injury only got worse, and suddenly from that 3-2 mark until the end of the season, the Bulls never touched .500 again. At their worst, they were 26-33 at the ASB break, having just lost 6 in a row. Considering LaVine/DeRozan/Vuevic/Williams all had rather healthy seasons, that was certainly a surprise.

It was clear the team needed some sort of jolt, so what did they do? They brought Pat Bev home.

Since that signing on February 21st, the Bulls closed the year 14-8. That's good for the 3rd most wins in the NBA over that timespan. Guess what they also own? The #1 defense in the NBA and the 3rd best net rating. Uhhh that's pretty good and with a 23 game sample, you shouldn't be embarrassed if you're starting to see red as a Bulls fan.

The Bulls did just enough to secure their spot in the Play In, and now with arguably the most successful Play In guy in the history of the idea, it's no surprise how things worked out

Sure, maybe a huge part of that was DeMar DeRozan's daughter and Zach LavVine going nuclear

but let's not forget who maybe had the biggest shot of the night

That was Pat Bev's only bucket of the game, but that doesn't matter. In the big moment and rose to the occasion and came through. As far as I'm concerned, he was just as important to that win as DeMar or LaVine. The best part of him making that shot and the Bulls pulling out the win was you KNEW Pat Bev was going to sound off after the game, and he did not disappoint

I cannot stress how much better it is that this man is not on the Lakers and I can actually enjoy him. Fuck the purple and gold now and forever as car as I'm concerned, but now that Pat Bev is free from that hell I can now get back to rooting for him and enjoying his antics.

The best part of that quote? He's not wrong! The Raptors are kind of trash and have been since their title. Their front office has put them in a very tough spot both in terms of their roster construction and their cap situation, and that's not changing any time soon. You can't get mad at a guy for telling the truth, and that's exactly what that quote is. The truth.

I'm sure there will be some out there that now come at Pat Bev and call him trash and all that shit, but let me ask you something. If he was trash, how would he be able to save an entire franchise like this? It's basically MJ, Derrick Rose, and Pat Bev in terms of guys who turned around the Bulls. If he was trash, how would he be able to knock down that huge corner three? What about those big rebounds late?

Perhaps the ultimate guy who you hate playing against but love if he's on your team, the fact that we now get a Pat Bev vs Jimmy Butler battle is quite the treat. If he thought the Raptors were fucking trash, I would LOVE to hear his thoughts on the Heat. Something tells me if the Bulls are able to take that game as well we'll get even more all time quotes.
