Remember When Vince McMahon Tore BOTH Of His Quads At The Royal Rumble?

Vince McMahon tearing BOTH of his quads at the conclusion of the 2005 Royal Rumble is one of my favorite moments in the history of wrestling. I know that might sound a bit sick, and I assure you, I'm not some kinda psychopath who wants to watch others to endure pain, but it is the cherry on top of one of the biggest clusterfucks the WWE has ever aired and truly hysterical.

If you're not familiar with this incident, let me break it down for you real quick:

-This is the Royal Rumble match - 30 men enter, 1 leaves victorious (whoever is left standing in the ring at the end of it).

-You toss your opponent over the top rope to eliminate them.

-Batista is supposed to win, but due to a fuck up, he went over the top rope WITH John Cena, eliminating himself.

-By the grace of god, Cena and Batista hit the ground at the EXACT SAME TIME so they could actually play it off like this was a coincidental tie!

-Vince McMahon storms out to set the record straight both in and out of kayfabe - with the goal to tell everyone to restart the match with just Cena and Batista in the ring - and tears both of his quads while sliding under the bottom rope.

-Vince has to sit down and yell at people like an absolute dope.

It's just so fucking funny. Vince sits there with this angry look on his face trying to downplay the pain he's in for MINUTES!

Edge tells the story best at the top of the blog, but since I interviewed Rey Mysterio ahead of the Royal Rumble last week, and he was apart of that match in 2005 as well, I had to get his side of the story….

(5:18 for the Vince quad tear talk)

Before speaking to Rey, I also got to interview his son, Dominik Mysterio, who you may last remember as an eight-year-old with his custody on the line at SummerSlam….

He's now a fully grown adult who is tag team partners with his legendary father, and we had an awesome discussion as well….

Check out both on YouTube now, or if you're into podcasts instead, listen here….

P.S. The Men's Royal Rumble match STUNK OUT LOUD this year. They brought back ZERO legends for surprise appearances, let Shane McMahon throw out half of the roster, and put Brock Lesnar over AGAIN. It's just Brock Lesnar Brock Lesnar Brock Lesnar Brock Lesnar in this company. Here's Brock Lesnar. Shoutout Brock Lesnar. Remember Brock Lesnar? Here's more Brock Lesnar. Don't forget Brock Lesnar. They did a much better job with the Women's Royal Rumble, which Ronda Rousey won, and some other matches on the Royal Rumble card were great, but sheesh - I still have a bad taste in my mouth from how that show ended.

Apparently Riddle was supposed to win until Brock bullied Vince into putting him over again, as well!

Imagine how fresh and surprising that woulda been?! In Orton's hometown, nonetheless?

FFS, WWE. Get outta your own way for once.

P.P.S. Here's more people talking about this infamous incident….
