The Rays Put 4 Guys In The Outfield To Try And Stop Mike Trout. Spoiler Alert: It Didn't Work.

The Rays love getting cute, even with Joe Maddon (and in the Angels dugout) gone they still do all that funky stuff he did. Kevin Cash and company love it. Well last night they were trying to figure out a new way to stop Mike Trout. He's hitting over .400, he's mashing balls, how can you stop him? Well you could put four outfielders out there to try to stop him. Well they did indeed try it, but it didn't work, because Mike Trout hit the ball over all of them. 

You can play whatever defense you want on Trout but if you put the ball here....

You're gonna have a bad time. And that is what Luis Patiño did. It's a guarantee that if you leave a pitch dick high like that to Trout it won't matter where you play your guys, the ball is gone. Unless they implement a rule where you can put your defenders in the crowd, you aren't going to get him out. He just doesn't miss those. He sends them 400 feet with ease. So it was an A for effort, Kevin Cash, but the plan didn't work. It may have worked, but we never got the chance to see it because Trout took matters into his own hands. He's so good.
