Dana White On Mike Tyson's Rumored Comeback: "I'm Begging Him Not To Fight"

TheMacLife- Tyson has posted several videos to social media recently showing him hitting pads with his trademark speed and power, with the latest video bookended by the former world heavyweight champion concluding, “I’m back!”

Dana White doesn’t like the idea.

“I love Mike Tyson, I’m begging him not to go fight. I said “you look awesome, you’re still explosive, you’re obviously still powerful, you’re one of the all-time greats,” White said on the Tim and Sid podcast. “Bottom line is I don’t want Mike to fight. If it comes down to where he is about to do something crazy, I might have to jump in and figure out something for him not to do it.”

Tyson hasn’t competed in the ring since a 2005 loss to Ireland’s Kevin McBride in what was his third loss in his final four fights. He has been linked to charity exhibition bouts with former rival Evander Holyfield as well as rugby star (and pro boxer) Sonny Bill Williams.

If you're familiar at all with Dana White's history as a fight promoter, I feel like this quote shouldn't surprise you, but yeah - Uncle Dana ain't really down with a Mike Tyson comeback.

In fact, he's literally begging Mike Tyson (who is now a close friend of his) not to step back into the squared circle for the same reason that Dave has been saying on the Rundown that he's not interested in seeing this either; Tyson couldn't compete 15 years ago - and he ain't gonna be able to compete today. If he wants to do a couple round charity exhibition versus Holyfield, fine. That'd be good fun and we'd all tune in and probably love the circus aspect of it.

We can't start talking about a "comeback" for Tyson in 2020 though, and especially not with Dana White's name involved, as much as it sucks to be the debbie downer here. He just won't be able to hang and that'll be the biggest downer of them all.
