Trade Centre: Getting MacKinnon And Drouin Back Together In Colorado Would Be A Stanley Cup Cheat Code

As we've all known for quite some time now, Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin is addicted to making trades. The Burger Van just can't help himself once he gets a sweet little taste of the action. You just look at the amount of players he's traded over the last few seasons. Pacioretty, Galchenyuk, Subban. Just yesterday he dealt Ilya Kovalchuk to the Caps. There are still rumors out there that Carey Price could potentially be on the move. And now that the NHL Trade Deadline is officially here today, this is like the Bonnaroo for a trade addict. He is going to be having himself a day out there.

And according to the Insiderrrrrr, it looks like Jonathan Drouin could be on his way out today as well.  And he could potentially be heading somewhere he should have been traded to in the first place when he was shipped out of Tampa Bay--over to the Rockies to get back with his old pal Nasty Nate MacKinnon.

Let's run it back to the year 2013 real quick, shall we? Our story takes place in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We have a 17-year-old Nathan MacKinnon playing along side of a 17-year-old Jonathan Drouin. These two sick puppies combine for 180 points in about 45 regular season games. They lead the Halifax Mooseheads to their first and only Memorial Cup Championship. MacKinnon was named the Memorial Cup MVP. Drouin was named the CHL Player of the Year. MacKinnon went on to get selected with the 1st overall pick that June, then Drouin went 2 picks later at #3. I know we're talking about 7 seasons ago but still, this is a duo you'd want to run it back with.

Especially with the way Colorado has looked this year. Especially with Rantanen being out for multiple weeks with a collarbone injury and Kadri being out as well. I know I'm setting myself for an @OldTakesExposed here but if the Avalanche actually pull the trigger on this trade, it could go down as the smartest trade in Joe Sakic's career as GM. So for the love of god, Joe, please go knock on that trade addicts door and make this happen. With the Caps picking up Kovy and Dillon over the last few days, Drouin to the Avs is our only hope.

Don't even think about it anymore. Just do it.
