Great Moments Are Born From Great Opportunity. That's What The Boston Bruins Have With A Chance To Blow Their 2nd Straight 3-1 Series Lead

You think about all the great teams throughout the history of the NHL, NBA and MLB. We've seen dynasties, we've seen unbelievably dominant seasons, we've seen it all. But what we've never seen is a team blow a 3-1 series lead in the playoffs two years in a row.

But here come those big bad Boston Bruins ready to etch their name into the history books forever.

Here's what makes what the Boston Bruins are doing right now so rare--it's such a fine line this team has to walk. For starters, you need to be good enough to make the playoffs in back-to-back seasons. That takes so many teams out of the equation right away. Not only do you need to make the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, but you need to be good enough to jump out to a 3-1 series lead. Again, that's no easy task.

But it's so, so difficult to be that good yet so bad at the same time that you're able to blow that 3-1 series lead. It's not like no teams have ever had 3-1 leads 2 years in a row. But 99% of the time those teams are all taking care of business and closing that series out in game 5 or 6. The Bruins are just addicted to playing game 7's.

Now the good news for B's fans is that the Toronto Maple Leafs are absolute dog shit when it comes to game 7's. What's the polar opposite of clutch? Whatever it is, the Leafs have done nothing but piss down their legs in each of their last five game 7's.

Something has to give on Saturday night. Either way, we are going to see complete and total devastation in some form or another. Can't wait!

P.S. -- Let's not forget that the Bruins are one of just 4 teams in NHL history to blow a 3-0 series lead when the Flyers came back to win game 7 in the 2010 Eastern Conference semifinals.
