The Minnesota Wild/North Stars Alumni Game Jerseys Are A Thing Of Beauty
The Minneosta Wild unveiled the jerseys which will be worn in the Stadium Series Alumni Game against the Chicago Blackhawks last night as the Wild took on the Dallas Stars. Obviously they chose last night’s game to unveil the sweater as the Minnesota Alumni team will be a mixture of both Wild alumni and Minnesota/Dallas North Stars alumni. Though the roster is like 80% North Stars and only a few guys who actually played for the Wild since they’re such a new franchise. Let’s take one more look at these beauties before we talk about them some more though.
So yeah, obviously it’s a little weird that the Wild opted to put the North Stars logo on the front of the jersey instead of their own or even a hybrid of the two. But again, you have to look at the roster for this alumni team. Brian Bellows, Neal Broten, Dino Ciccarelli, and of course Mike Modano. Out of the 26 guys on the roster, I think 20 of them are North Stars. The Wild understand that their franchise doesn’t have a ton of history yet. When you have guys like Brad Bombardir and Richard Park as your headlining alumnus in this game, that much is evident. But the state has such a rich history in hockey and that’s what this game is about. It’s about the players who made a living in the State of Hockey and just because that franchise picked up and moved to Dallas doesn’t mean that the history still doesn’t belong to Minnesota. So anybody who can’t comprehend why the Wild would throw the North Stars logo on the front of the jersey is either a troll or a bozo.
These things are beautiful and I, for one, can’t wait to watch Mike Modano fly around the ice with one of these bad boys. I was born in ’92 so I never got a chance to actually witness Modano as a North Star. I’ve always hated that but for at least one night on February 20, 2016, I’ll get to see that beautiful bastard lead a rush down the ice with his jersey flapping behind and it’ll have that North Stars logo on the front. And all will be right in the world.
SN – as far as alumni actually go for Minnesota… who do they have? Gaborik is the big only name that I can think of off the top of my head. Oh, and Dany Fucking All Star.
