Michal Neuvirth's New Mask Is A Certified Beauty. Plus Some Extra Flyers Preseason Notes
Pretty brilliant move by Neuvy here if you ask me. Kind of hard to keep a guy on the bench with a helmet like this. “Oh, you want to bench me? The guy with only the most important man in Flyers history painted onto my mask?”. Yeah good luck with that, Hakstol. But for real. This just goes to show you how much of a players’ owner Mr. Snider was. It’s not like Michal Neuvirth is a career Flyer or anything. He’s only spent one year with this team so far but one season was all it took. Everybody who has ever played for this man has at least one story that makes you love the guy a little more. We heard plenty of them right after the death of Mr. Snider last season but I’m sure we haven’t even gotten to half of them yet. It’s just a shame he isn’t around any more to see this lineup finally come to fruition.
Oh. My. God. So let’s just get this straight for a moment. You’re telling me that at some point tonight, we can see Claude Giroux centering Brayden Schenn and Travis Konecny while Shayne Gostisbehere and Ivan Provorov are manning the blueline? Excuse me while I go take a cold shower real quick. The Flyers have already sent Travis Sanheim back to Lehigh Valley and Philly Myers back to the Q. But they’ve been giving Provorov every opportunity to stay with the Flyers this season and it looks like both 2015 1st rounders have been impressive enough to be worth their shot. Just take one look at Travis Konecny and tell me this kid isn’t NHL ready.
That’s a big boy play. Plays like that are when you realize there’s nothing more that playing juniors has to offer to him. Give that very good boy a roster spot and give it to him now.
