I Am NOT Happy With Byron Maxwell Guaranteeing The Eagles Will Be In The Super Bowl This Year

PFT – Maxwell signed with an Eagles team that fell short of the playoffs in 2014, but told Jenny Vrentas of TheMMQB.com that he’s found the same “winning culture” that he experienced in with the Seahawks. He also said that he thinks his time in such a culture has him feeling like the Eagles are going to replace his old team as the tops in the NFC. “Experience. Because I’ve been there before,” Maxwell said. “Knowing what it’s like if we go that far. Because we’re gonna go that far this year — meaning the playoffs and the Super Bowl. We’re gonna go that far. Hopefully that experience I already had, I can help them.” Maxwell added that you “can take that as a guarantee” because he has “no choice but to think that way” heading into the season.

I hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE this kind of happy crap. Hey, Byron, I know you’re a newbie in this town but here’s a nickel’s worth of free advice: SHUT YOUR FACE AND JUST GET IT THE FUCK DONE. We’re all fatigued, battered and broken by these empty predictions. You can thank Vince Young for having the matzo balls to declare the Eagles a “Dream Team” as a backup QB. Shit, Michael Vick for some reason said the 8-8 Eagles had a chance to become a dynasty in 2011. That’s right. A dynasty. Meaning multiple Super Bowl championships instead of maybe just one, ONE playoff win. Vick of course backed up those words with a 4-12 campaign the next year. My fat heart can’t take being shattered again.

There’s a fine line between confidence and cockiness, Maxie. I’d prefer my guys talk softly and carry a big stick. I get expecting to be the best every year is how most players should think, but that’s not what a fanbase that owns 0 Lombardi Trophies wants to hear. Don’t talk about it, be about it.
