How About The Balls On These Two Phillies Fans Who Emailed In Straight Up Asking For Money To Get To Spring Training?

READER EMAIL: Tip: Support Our Trip to Spring Training!

Hi there, My boyfriend and I are HUGE Phillies fans and we’ve decided that instead of getting sloppy drunk and rowdy at some hotel in Cancun for Spring Break 2014, we’d rather spend our money on a road trip to Spring Training for the first time ever! I use the phrase “our money” as if there is much of it to go around. You see, we’re both college kids and a road trip to Clearwater from West Virginia can be pricey – think 1900 miles in gas money!
So, we’ve decided to take matters into our own hands and create a donation page for our efforts! We know more than anyone that Philly is The City of Brotherly Love and are hoping that fellow Philly fans will help us get to Clearwater to pursue this dream!

This is where you come in! Your Philly sports blog has generated a large following and a small post on your page would help us get publicity and utilize our weak ties with other Phillies fans. I am emailing to ask if you would kindly share our donation page (complete with a full background story and photos) on your page. We would really appreciate the small gesture as it would be a huge help for our dream!
Feel free to contact me if you have further questions.

Whether you decide to share or not, take care and GO PHILS!

Cheers!
Camille

Your generous donations will contribute to:

Gas – the drive from Morgantown, WV to Clearwater, FL is 976 miles and a whopping 14 hours and 30 minutes one way.
Food – although I plan to pack as much leftovers as possible, four days away from home means I’ll be eating lots of Wendy’s!
Tickets – after traveling the distance, I’ll probably want to make it into the games.
Hotel – a long drive calls for a good night’s sleep.
What You Get for Helping

There’s perks, too!

$10 – guest post on Camille’s blog – Only 2 left!
$30 – free handmade ceramic coasters by me
$100 – free fitted gold WVU Mountaineers hat

Wait a second, if I donate $100 I can get a free WVU Mountaineers hat I could buy online brand new for $20? Sign me the fuck up! Free handmade ceramic coasters by “me”?!?! Hoot of the century!!!

I’m not one to bash on anyone in the circle brotherhood of Brotherly Love sports fans, but you two West Virginia, Pittsburgh area transplants basically want handouts to get to Spring Training? Unacceptable. You want to go that bad? Find a way to earn the money. We don’t live in Obama’s Socialistic American Utopia where handouts, healthcare and happiness are given out like Internet dollars. Get a job you bums. I’m sure there’s plenty of moonshine distilleries or inbred factories hiring part-time in The Mountain State. Tap into the billion dollar meth industry WV has to offer and call it a life.

This is America. Anyone has the right to ask and beg for money for any reason. Conversely, I have the freedom of speech to call you out for being complete assholes for asking anonymous people to fund your Spring Training vacation. Shit, I’d love to leave the confines of the trash can fire under I-95 to travel to sunny Clearwater for a couple days, but even I don’t have the cast iron nuts to be sociopathic enough to ask strangers to pay my way.

And you’re damn right I donated $10 solely to write a guest posting on Camille’s blog. Time for these two to learn a lesson about this thing called the “Internet”.
