Fists Were Flying At The 18U Women's World Championship Between Russia And Czech Republic

Every once in a while, lady hockey players will muck it up a little bit and start shoving each other. The closest they ever get to an actual fight is about as close as baseball ever gets to an actual fight. Lot of pushing, a lot of hold-me-back, that whole deal. But when you put a bunch of crazy Russian chicks up against another eastern European nation, you’re going to get a legitimate donnybrook on your hands. It’s just how they’re bred over there. I mean, look at this chick go.

That’s a savage beatdown. Women’s hockey. Men’s hockey. Some back alley’s in downtown Moscow. It doesn’t matter where you are, that’s a beatdown. Mounted on top and wailing on her face. Poor girl tries to scoot away and Ivan Drago’s daughter isn’t having any of it. She’ll be done beating her ass when she wants to be done beating her ass. Not a second sooner. So good on these girls for doing their part to Make Hockey Violent Again. I couldn’t be more proud.

P.S. – this clip is about a year old now but it’s a great time to take a stroll down memory lane. The IIHF 18U Worlds knows how to throw down. Here’s Turkey and Bulgaria ending a game at last year’s tournament the exact way you’d expect a hockey game between Turkey and Bulgaria to end.
