EVERYTHING You Need To Know About What The Sixers Did At The Trade Deadline

I was in the middle of breaking down the anarchy in South Philly today, but Intern Steveo (click there to follow his smart ass) emailed in a pretty damn good synopsis of what happened today. Thar she blows:

Alrighty so a lot of Sixers shit went down today that blew up twitter and caused absolute chaos in the NBA. Let’s start from the very beginning.

Javelle McGee and Oklahoma City’s top 18 protected first round pick was traded to us for an irrelevant Turkish Player. The only reason we traded the Turkish player is because technically you cannot trade things for nothing, so we threw this guy in there even though he will never play in the NBA ever. Essentially, the Nuggets hit us up and said we can’t take McGee’s 12 million dollar contract anymore on our books so we’ll give him to your books and we’ll give you a protected first round pick to do it. Earlier this week Hinkie went on the record as saying that he’s designed this organization to be a salary dump destination which is exactly what happened. Win for the Sixers, Win for the Nuggets. Next question.

We traded KJ McDaniels to the Rockets for Isaish Cannon and a 2nd round pick. It sucks to see KJ walk because he was such a promising young player but it was obvious he did not want to be on our team when he signed a one year contract instead of taking Hinkie’s sneaky bull shit 4 year contract that he gives to most of the new rookies. The good thing for KJ is that he can one hundred percent contribute on the Rockets as a playoff team and I genuinely see a playoff contender signing him to a better contract than the Sixers ever could or would offer him. So good for you KJ. And honestly, if the Sixers wanna sign him after this year they can do that. So we just got a pick for nothing once again.

Alright, Michael Carter Williams was traded to the Bucks. It’s reality folks, he’s gone. It comes as a surprise to EVERYONE including MCW himself but it honestly isn’t THAT surprising. We all know Hinkie is a calculated master-mind. So lets dive into his brain for a second. MCW is injury prone, he’s missed a ton of games over the past couple years. MCW can’t shoot and Hinkie hates people who can’t shoot (notice that Robert Covington is still a Sixer). Last, we have been winning games this past month WITHOUT MCW. Our past couple games we have went .500 with PG’s signed off of 10-day contracts. Long term, Hinkie knows MCW will not fit as the PG of his team that he envisions. A team that has dominated bigs in the post who can block shots surrounded by long, freakishly athletic shooters like Covington. I also think Hinkie understands that in order to surround the bigs with shooters, you need to have a PG who can do it ALL. I’m talking Russell Westbrook do it all. The PG of his team needs to be the catalyst, the leader who can do it all and get everyone involved and knock down ballsy shots. Unfortunately MCW just doesn’t look like that super-star that Hinkie needs at the Point Guard spot. Oh and btw, we gave away MCW for the Lakers lottery pick this year that is top-5 protected and top 3 protected next year. So we should get that pick this year OR definitely next depending on how the chips fall. The Lakers won’t tank next year or Kobe may blow LA up so I think were set for that pick being a solid one.

Isaiah Thomas IS NOT ON THE 76ERS. People confused this because we are involved in the Bucks, Suns trade when the Isaiah Thomas trade was a separate entity. We may in fact be involved in the Celtics Suns trade but only as a salary dump or pick dump. We also did not pick up the retired Isaiah Thomas. I hope.

So to recap, Hinkie literally went on the record this week on ESPN.com saying that the entire season and his team is one big calculation in his brain. MCW won rookie of the year, we are winning without him, he’s injury prone and can’t shoot, realistically he’s not in our long-term plan so he had to sell high. KJ McDaniels was going to walk for nothing at the end of this year anyway. Sell. And unfortunately, our organization right now is just one big money saving, salary sucking, pick dumping cluster-fuck. On the bright-side, at some point soon our entire starting line-up will consist of first round draft picks which is pretty cool.
