Brooks Orpik Is A Gentleman And A True Leader For His Headshot On Olli Maatta

You see that hit right there? Most people see a jackass coming in extremely late and extremely high to deliver a crushing blow to an unsuspecting opponent’s head. Most people, including the NHL DoPS, see Brooks Orpik playing an extremely reckless game with a complete lack of regard for other players’ safety and well-being on the ice. And for the hit, Brooks Orpik was suspended 3 games by the NHL. But just as Jesus was handed a 3-day suspension before he rose again, Brooks Orpik will return as a leader with nothing but accountability and integrity. Or so that’s what the media would like you to think I guess.

This is just dude stuff. The rest of you wouldn’t understand. This isn’t LeBron blaming his teammates or his coach for not winning like a little child. This is a man taking a run at another man’s head, putting his health in jeopardy and then saying sorry about it later. That’s some real man shit. orpik-suspension-tweet2orpik-suspension-tweet3

I can already feel the heat steaming from all the “Cam Newton Could Learn A Thing Or Two From Brooks Orpik” takes that are coming.

It’s all just a very bizarre and unnecessary ball washing from the media today. Like “hey, I know that he just murdered a guy but did you see how well he said he’s sorry for murdering a guy and didn’t try to defend said murder? THAT’S a true leader”.  Do I think that Brooks Orpik is a bad guy? Of course not. I’m sure it was just a lapse of judgment on that hit and I’m sure he actually does feel bad about causing injury to Maatta. But how this has spun into an Orpik circle jerk is beyond me.
