Back When Baseball Was Tough: A Young Pedro Charges The Mound Vs. Phils And Curt Schilling Goes Full Hardo

Don’t ask me how or why I stumbled on this video from 1996 at The Vet, but I found it extremely enjoyable and nostalgic. Pedro wasn’t quite in Don Zimmer fighting mode yet, but he still had some gusto to him. It also shows Curt Schilling as a young, naive hardo, instead of the old, supreme assclown we have today. Gotta give him credit for launching himself into the brawl like that all fired up. Somebody must have been passing out copies of The Origin Of Species in the clubhouse. And of course, only in Philly would two pitchers want to fight each other to a fatality then go on to team up and win rings somewhere else. Cute.

Remember Benito Santiago? That Senor could throw out guys from his knees with that Winchester growing out of his shoulder. Also, remember Mike Williams? The guy who stunk out loud for the Phillies in the ’90’s, went on to be an All-Star closer for the Pirates, then somehow came back to stink it up again? Memories.
