Your Buddy Gets "Man-gaged," (Girl Proposes And Gives The Guy A Ring) What Do You Do?

I’ve basically heard it all at this point. 5 years. Pushing like 250 episodes. Calls from all different types of people. Young, old, guys girls. Old school, new school. I feel like we’ve covered it all. But then along comes someone talking about being “Mangaged” and we’re on to a whole new world I never even knew about. The girl proposes to the guy, he wears a ring, she doesnt. Then the guy is planning on eventually getting a ring for her and re-proposing. He walked around for like a year at work talking about his “ball and chain” and the “old lady” and then drops “I have to get a ring for my fiance.” Turns out hes not even married yet and just got Mangaged. What in the goddam fuck is going on around here???

I like to think of myself as pretty socially progressive. I generally dont care what youre doing with other people when it comes to relationships. But there are some things that I just think you gotta keep traditional. Some things you just dont need to rock the boat. If it aint broke, dont fix it. You get “Mangaged” and you’re immediately spending the rest of your life explaining how your girl proposed to you. You walk around wearing a ring for a year and people find out you’re not actually married yet and you are immediately the weirdo at work, you immediately the weirdo with anyone who knows you. Its not even about masculinity or being threatened or any of that shit. It all boils down to my ultimate mantra of just BE NORMAL. And a Mangagement is the furthest thing from normal.
