We Need To Talk About What Aaron Judge Is Doing Right Now, Including His Moon Shot Last Night

Remember when Girardi almost didn’t put Judge on the opening day roster?? That was a legitimate thought as we came down the stretch of Spring Training. What has Judge done in 2017? Through 14 games he’s hitting .277 with five homers and 12 RBIs. Out of the top 15 hardest hit balls this year, Judge owns FIVE. That homer last night was the hardest hit ball in Yankee Stadium in the last two years. He’s a threat to hit the ball out of the park at any given moment, and he doesn’t even need solid contact to do so. In thirteen fewer games, Judge has eclipsed last year’s home run total and has cut down his strikeouts. In 95 plate appearances in 2016 Judge struck out every 2.2 times, but so far in 2017 that number has risen to 3.5. Are these numbers a very small sample size? Sure are, but you can sense he’s a different animal at the plate right now. There’s an electric buzz whenever he steps to the plate and that’s because one of these days he’s going to hit one out of the actual stadium. If not for a cold April night, Judge’s 448 foot blast might have gone 480. I still don’t believe that bomb only went 448 and fell shorter than Holiday’s homer a few days ago. When that ball left the bat my jaw dropped. I haven’t had that reaction in quite a while.

P.S. Last night was the first time in a little while where the full lineup was in action and what do ya know? Every starter got a hit. I’m at the point where I fully expect Starlin Castro to get a hit every time he gets up. Dude is LOCKED in. The lineup is scary good at the moment, lets enjoy it.

P.P.S. The dynamic duo of Judge and Torreyes are amazing
