NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)The Mets will hold a moment of silence for slain NYPD Officer Brian Moore prior to their game against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night, VP of Media Relations Jay Horwitz confirmed to CBS2 earlier in the day. Flags are already flying at half-staff at Citi Field, where NYPD officers are expected to make up the color guard during the playing of the national anthem. In addition, the area of the stadium near the Jackie Robinson Rotunda will be illuminated by a blue light in Moore’s memory, according to the New York Daily News.

Should be a real touching moment tonight at Citi Field as flags fly at half staff and the stadium is lit up blue in honor of Brian Moore and his service as one of NYC’s finest. There’s been a lot of chirping back and forth between Mets fans and Yankees fans about whos the best in this city, but I think we can all agree Brian and his brothers at the NYPD pretty much have that title on lock.

As for the rest of the city, if you’d like to honor Brian and support his family, I was told to direct all donations to the Detectives Endowment Association – Widow’s And Children’s Fund. This is where we sent the money we raised earlier in the year. Despite the name Widows and Children its a fund set up for any fallen officers so you can still donate to Brian’s family through there. You can mail donations to:

Paul DiGiacomo
Vice President
The Detectives’ Endowment Association, Inc.
26 Thomas Street
New York, NY 10007
Attn: Widows’ and Children’s Fund

And just include a note that its for Brian Moore’s family.
