Alright first the good news. The Mets completed the 4 game sweep of the Marlins. Thats their 8th straight win. They’re now 7-0 at home, 10-3 overall, and have done it all against division opponents. Harvey had his B-stuff today, as he seems to do against the Marlins. But the bats picked him up and the bullpen did enough to secure the W. This is now their best start in team history. Obviously still early but any time you’re throwing around terms like “Best in team history,” things are going well.

Now the bad news. TdA and Jerry Blevins both go down with broken hands. Blevins has been our best lefty out of the pen, so his loss obviously hurts. But the d’Arnaud injury is crushing. The kid was raking. Turning into the player we all knew he could be when we first landed him in the Dickey trade. He finally seemed to be healthy and then a freak injury like a broken hand ruins everything.

Silver lining here is that Kevin Plawecki is getting the call up:

Just a revolving door of young talent right now. Mejia suspended and Familia steps up as the new closer. Wheeler down and the pitching staff hasnt missed a beat. Wright hits the DL and we keep winning. TdA goes down, slide in Plawecki. You never want to see injuries, especially when you’re off to the best start in franchise history. And theres only so much one team can withstand in that department. But this pitching staff is going to be so consistently good there’s going to be plenty of opportunities for a multitude of players to step up, fill these voids, and win ballgames.

Meet the fuckin Mets baby. They aint your usual ball club from Flushing.
