Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury Announced His Retirement From Boxing With One Incredible Tweet

ty

Brutal. Another massive loss for the sport of boxing. Sure Tyson Fury wasn’t the most fun boxer to watch, most people in the world didn’t recognize he was heavyweight champion, and his name sounds legitimately made up. But he had the balls to get in the ring with Wladimir Klitschko and actually beat him. Plus anyone that gave himself the nickname Gypsy King while going full Kenny Powers during his retirement announcement can play on my team any day of the week. Baseball has Lou Gehrig’s “The Luckiest Man” speech and now boxing has its “I’m the greatest so go suck a dick” tweet. Poetry.

And yes, Fury was reportedly about to lose his belts for testing positive for cocaine. But just having a character like that in the sport helps boxing fight off being buried six feet under for at least another day. I mean look at what Fury did after those coke allegations dropped last week. He channeled his inner Tony Montana and became the bad guy.

Such a shame that a career with this much potential has been cut short. A flame extinguished far too early. Now we must pray that Fury starts up an MMA career and lets Dana White mold Fury into the superstar he should be. Because while I may disagree with Fury’s claim about him being the greatest boxer of all-time, I think we can all agree this is the greatest post-match celebration of all-time.
