Dan Le Batard Says Derek Jeter Is Furious About His Interview With ARod And I Don't Buy The Reason

(The full interview if you missed it)

BIA recent interview on CNBC with Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, in which the pair thought they were going to promote their charity work, became painfully awkward and went viral when they were asked about their relationship, love lives, and buying the Miami Marlins. According to one report, Jeter was “beside himself angry” after the interview, but not necessarily for the reason most would assume. Jeter, who is famously quiet about his private life and known for rarely divulging much during interviews, was indeed angry after the interview, according to Dan Le Batard of ESPN. However, according to Le Batard, the thing that angered Jeter the most was having to do the interview with A-Rod in the first place.

I’m not a Le Batard guy at all, because I bang with Mike Rappaport, but this is also bullshit. I’m not sure with everything that is going on in Jeter’s life right now, from buying the Marlins, to getting his number retired by the Yankees, sitting next to Alex Rodriguez is his biggest concern. The man is literally closing a $1.3 billion business deal while getting his number retired by the most celebrated sports organization in history. And he’s pissed because he has to sit next to an old teammate he’s not that close with?

Within the first 30 seconds of the interview, the reporter shows his hand that this interview is going to be a nightmare. First, he blatantly calls out the rift between the 2 former teammates in the first question, then proceed to call Derek by the wrong name before we hit the 1 minute mark. HE CALLED DEREK FUCKING JETER BY THE WRONG NAME IN NEW YORK CITY. From there the interviewer tries to talk ARod and J-Lo, before turning his attention to Jeter buying the Marlins.

Bob Pisani pushed and pushed to get Jeter to talk about the Marlins deal, that would make no sense for him to talk about, and who stepped in the change the subject? Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez did. So maybe when Jeter found out he was being interviewed with Alex, he wasn’t thrilled. But by the end of it, ARod helped save Derek from an interviewer that has the social awareness of a tourist in New York.

Just listen to the clip from the show. This is just 2 guys trying to stir shit up by pitching the idea that there is still a rift and Rodriguez might come in and buy the Marlins from under him. More hot take bullshit from the World Wide Leader in layoffs.
