Absolutely overwhelmed with the wackness. When the #Clancying movement started a couple years back I was defending the jeans and sneakers lifestyle. I personally like sneakers that are considered a little more stylish but if you wanted to rock some Dad Shoes with your Levi’s I was defending your right to do that. But that was when I was speaking to a bunch of normal ass white dudes. Not when I was talking about the goddam best player in the National Basketball Association. The fact that Steph Curry and Under Armour put out this garbage is actually wild. Curry’s shoes have always been lame but these are so fucking terrible I almost think it has to be on purpose. Like they are intentionally trying to make Dad Shoes. There is no way you design these shoes in the sneaker industry without knowing how they are going to be received. There is no way you dont understand what the backlash is going to be. Under Armour has made it clear that they make basketball shoes to be worn during basketball games. They’ve never really attempted to design fashionable, stylish, off the court kicks like Jordans. So the ONLY possible explanation is that they are going all in on this. If youre gonna make lame Dad Shoes, then make the LAMEST Dad Shoes. And maybe theyre smarter than all of us. Maybe they’ll make tens of millions of dollars because theres a lot of white suburban dads who will cop these and wear them with high white tube socks. But this is the final nail in the coffin for Under Armour ever being considered a cool, stylish brand. Its already been that way but a public embarrassment like this now solidifies their image of the wack sneaker brand.
