When A Bartender Refuses To Keep Serving You Do You A) Calmly Leave Or B) Pull Out A Pocket Knife And Threaten To Cut Off The Bartender's Head?

Press-Citizen- Police say they arrested a Nebraska man after he pulled a knife at a downtown Iowa City bar and threatened to cut off a bar employee’s head. Iowa City police were called to TCB Pool Hall, 114 E. College St., at about 1 a.m. Thursday for reports that 25-year-old Daniel J. Simmons, of Papillion, Neb., was intoxicated and harassing bar staff, according to Iowa City police complaints. Police say Simmons refused to leave when staff attempted to escort him out of the bar and, when a bar employee called 911, Simmons pulled out a pocket knife and threatened to cut off the individual’s head. Simmons then exited the bar and encountered three police officers, who arrested him after bar staff positively identified him as the wanted suspect, police say. Police say Simmons was visibly intoxicated and provided a post arrest blood-alcohol content of .253.

Maybe an overreaction from this guy.  Just a tad.  But I’ll be damned if I’m going to sit behind this computer and act like I’ve never had this feeling before.  Have I ever acted on it like this guy did and threaten to decapitate an innocent human being?  Of course not (at least not that I remember), that’s what separates normal people from the crazies.  But there’s almost nothing worse than the feeling when you’re partying it up with your friends at the bar, things get a little sideways and the bartender (usually with a giant Samoan bouncer at his side) calmly asks you and your friends to leave the establishment.  The absolute worst.  Oh I’m sorry I was having the time of my life with my buddies and now you want to cut of the resource that allows that to happen.  Sorry booze is a gift from above and we want as much as we can get.  Even though we and not the bartender are the assholes in this situation every time it still sucks when it happens.  So, am I saying I’ve ever threatened to dislodge someones head from their shoulders because the flow of beer and shots have to stop?  Nope.  If the question is, have I thought about it?  Then the answer is yes.

PS- A pocket knife?  Come on guy.  Maybe threaten to stab them or something.  Not full decapitation.  That’ll take all day.
