The Lead Singer Of Smash Mouth Either Had A Heart Attack Or Was Too Drunk And Had To Be Carried Off Stage

Screen Shot 2016-08-29 at 8.44.02 AM

Reddit- So, we’re watching the mendoza line of bands, live at our hick ass corn festival, and Steve Harwell, that Guy Fieri looking mofo, sits his fatass down and waves over the roadies, who then proceed to carry him off stage. The remaining band members finish, first by playing “I’m a Believer” because the crowd kept screaming “Shrek” when there was a break (which made me feel incredibly old, because I realized 90% of the crowd grew up on that movie, then they played “All Star”. The crowd went wild.
No one cared that the lead singer left. Seriously.
Then the show was over and a couple ambulances showed up.
Overall, the show exceeded my expectations. Good show.
Edit: Got his last name wrong.

Oh how the mighty have fallen down drunk and/or had a heart attack. Smash Mouth’s “All Star” was all of our childhoods*. Then Shrek came out and “I’m A Believer” became a smash (pun) hit and part of me thought Smash Mouth would be around forever. Cranking out hits and making me feel okay about not being the sharpest tool in the shed. Instead now they’ve been downgraded (or upgraded, depending on where they performed before this) to the Sweet Corn Festival in Urbana, Illinois. It happens to every music act eventually. For example, Nelly is performing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in October. Country Grammar just went fucking diamond and Nelly still has to perform in my small Iowa town. Sad! Also, there’s a pretty big difference between a person simply being too drunk to stand and having a heart attack. Hopefully the paramedics on hand were able to tell the difference.

*All Star came out in 1999 if you want to feel REALLLLLLLY old

This can’t make the lead singer feel great

That pretty much says, “Lead singer died on stage but he doesn’t really matter. RIP. Good show though.”
