Some Little Kid Asked Jordan Spieth If He Believes In God Or Science

SYDNEY (AP) — Jordan Spieth must have thought he answered all the tough questions during a 30-minute media conference Tuesday that had to be cut off by Australian Open organizers. The most prying questions, though, came a few hours later from a group of about 60 kids during a junior clinic on the range at The Australian Golf Club, where Spieth will open play Thursday in defense of his 2014 title. After discussing Australian sports — including cricket— with the kids, Spieth appeared perplexed when asked what type of ball he uses. “Cricket ball?” he asked initially, then realized they wanted to know the type of golf ball he plays with. That warmed him up for the next question, from a boy of about 11 or 12, who asked: “Do you believe in God, or do you believe in science?” Without batting an eye, but with a smile at the surprising tone of the question, he answered: “God,” then added, “that sure was an interesting one.”

Just your typical question from a little kid. Mixed right in there with, “How can I be like you when I grow up?” and “What does the green jacket feel like?” here comes some kid over the top with, “GOD OR SCIENCE? PICK ONE RIGHT NOW”. Kids say the darndest things.  I kinda like it.  Every once in awhile pro athletes need a curve ball to keep it interesting.  Otherwise they just get canned questions from reporters they’ve heard a million times. Sometimes they’re not even questions. Reporters will say, “Tell me about that decision in the 4th quarter.” Booooooooring.   How about this? Put a small child at every press conference at professional sporting events and give them the opportunity to ask one question. How great would that be?  You’d get questions that would range from, “What’s your middle name?” to “Why is my poop green some times?” to “What are your closely-held religious beliefs?” No one on planet Earth is more brutally honest than little kids. I think we should do this. It’ll keep these guys on their toes and make press conferences a must-see event every time.

PS- I’m not here to tell a guy what to believe in and what not to believe in but science has a pretty good track record, Jordan.  K bye.
