Soda Or Pop?

Bloomberg Moves To Ban Sugary Drinks In NYC Restaurants And Movie Theaters

Somebody asked me on Twitter yesterday what I call softs drinks: soda or pop?  I feel like this is an age old debate.  Like Leonard or Hagler.  Like Bud Light or Miller Lite.  Like #TeamAniston or #TeamJolie.  It’s a never ending argument where people stubbornly stick to their guns and never relent.  Well that ends once and for all today.  We’re gonna take a vote on the correct way to say it and that’s the end of it.  Will this actually change anyone’s mind?  Of course not.  That’s just the way it is.  My answer to the question is pop.  Always has been always will be.  People on Twitter called me a hillbilly and a hick blah blah blah.  The joke’s on you.  That’s the right answer.  So if you’re interested in being right, vote for pop.  Soda is for the fucking birds.  There will probably be some people out there who say, “I call all soft drinks Coke.  Why isn’t that an option in the voting?”.  I’ll tell you why.  Because simply calling every soft drink Coke is borderline retarded behavior.  I’m serious.  People who do that need to be checked into a hospital for some sort of disorder.  I think it’s a southern thing so that makes sense.  I can at least see why people call it soda, but not coke.  Makes zero sense.  Coke is a brand name, not a sweeping word that covers any and all soft drinks under the sun.  And nobody say they call it soda pop.  People who do that are the same people who root for both the Cubs and White Sox or Mets and Yankees or Iowa and Iowa State.  Scum of the earth.

PS- I did an image search on the Google machine to see what it pulled up for the words soda and pop.  Ya know, just to get a feel for which way the interwebs lean.  The results were nothing short of devastating.
