WATERLOO | The operator of a taco stand has pleaded guilty to selling methamphetamine as a side order. Authorities allege Martin Villalobos of Waterloo was working at his stand set up in a La Porte Road parking lot when he passed 27 grams of meth to a confidential informant working with investigators with the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force in August 2012. The undercover informant handed him money and received a grocery sack containing food. A green pepper in the bag had a removable top, and the high-grade meth was hidden side, court records state. Villalobos, age unavailable, pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of meth Monday in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids. Three other counts will be dismissed as part of the plea. Sentencing will be at a later date, and the charge is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

This post should stop fueling the stereotypes about Iowa.  As a lot of you have correctly pointed out that Iowa is pretty much the meth capital of the world.  As far as exports go it’s right up there with corn.  But even this latest arrest is uncharted territory for meth heads in Iowa.  I mean, normally when people get popped for making/selling meth here it’s because they were speeding down I-380 in a rental van and they crashed into light pole mid-cook or something stupid.  Not Martin Villalobos.  He had the brains to think , “Hey these people like tacos.  You know what else they’d probably like?  Fucking meth”.  And he was right.  I hear nothing goes better with a classic Mexican meal than meth.  How awesome is it that he hid the meth inside of a green pepper with a removable top?  Genius.  I bet his business was booming before the cops slapped the bracelets on him. Even though the cops ended up catching him I like that he thought outside of the box.  That’s more than most of the meth tweakers do around here.
