Former Hakweye Tyler Sash Tazed And Arrested After Drunkenly Trying To Get Away From Police On A Scooter

OSKALOOSA, Iowa —Former Hawkeye player Tyler Sash was charged after a short chase on a scooter Saturday. Oskaloosa police said the incident started about 1:27 a.m. Sash, 25, took off on a scooter and was followed by police.  At one point, Sash ditched the scooter and ran away on foot. He was found hiding behind a tree in a back yard and refused repeated orders to come out, police said. Sash was Tazed by officers and taken into custody after resisting getting handcuffs on.  He refused a field sobriety test, but admitted to having six drinks in one hour, police said. Sash was charged with OWI and interference with official acts. 

Yikes.  Not a great look for former Iowa football defensive back Tyler Sash here.  He hasn’t been on an NFL team since being cut last August and now something like this happens.  In his defense, six drinks in an hour will do that to a person.  You can’t expect someone to behave normally after that.  That’s a lot of drinks in an hour no mater how you slice it.  6 beers, 6 mixed drinks, 6 shots, 6 of anything.  Each of those choices have trouble written all over it.  In this specific case with Tyler it took him down the path of driving drunk on a scooter, ditching it when the cops were on him, hiding behind a tree like a child and refusing to come out before having to be taxed and arrested.  Whoops.  But hey, Tyler still has a Super Bowl ring from the time he was a special teams player on the latest NY Giants team that won one so life could be worse I suppose.

Sash has a seasoning that he sells here in Iowa called “Dash of Sash” that is now a perfect 10 on the unintentional comedy scale.
