Cops Looking For A Wisconsin Fan Who Punched A 15-Year-Old Iowa Kid In The Face After Saturday's Game

Press-Citizen- The celebration over the Hawkeyes’ Saturday win against Wisconsin ended early for one fan. University of Wisconsin-Madison police said a 15-year-old boy wearing Hawkeye gear was punched in the face by a 20- to 25-year-old man as he was exiting Camp Randall Stadium at 2:30 p.m. Saturday following Iowa’s 10-6 victory over the Badgers. Police said the attack was unprovoked and the suspect fled. The punch came after the boy, who lives in Madison but supports the Hawkeyes, said he was mildly teasing one of his friends about the Iowa win, and the suspect approached him and hit him in the face. Marc Lovicott, the public information officer for UW-Madison Police, said it’s common to see good-natured teasing on game days, but the physical violence, especially against a minor, was shocking and unacceptable. “Very rarely do we ever deal with something of this nature where it’s physical,” he said. “And that’s why this is concerning us so much.” The boy suffered bruising and scratches to his face but was not seriously injured, police said. “From what we’ve heard the kid is OK. Just shook up a little bit,” Lovicott said. Police have not identified the suspect, who was described as male, between 20 and 25 years old, and wearing a red shirt and jeans. “Unfortunately, it’s going to be tough,” Lovicott said of finding the suspect. “The description that we have, you know, matches tens of thousands of fans.”

And now we’ve got adults punching kids in the face because they’re mad their team got beat. I’m obviously an Iowa guy but I can respect what this guy did.  If you’re not so angry after a loss that you don’t feel the need to punch a kid in the face then you have no business being in the stadium to begin with. That’s the kind of fire I want from the football fans in my conference.  A willingness to punch anyone and everyone after a loss.  I’m actually a little mad the 15-year-old Iowa kid didn’t come right back at the guy and give him a 1-2 combo. Iowa fans have a pretty good little football team there in Iowa City and it’s time for us to start acting like it. A fan from a rival team punches you in the face?  Game on.  Give it right back to them. I get it though. Iowa hasn’t been good in half a decade so we’re a little rusty. How about this. If Iowa loses to Illinois at Kinnick on Saturday I need somebody to seek out a teenage Fighting Illini fan and bloody his nose.

I really love the visual of a grown man getting so angry after having to sit through 4 quarters of a 10-6 loss at home that he just slugs a kid in the face. It doesn’t matter if you’re from Iowa or Wisconsin or Mars.  That’s hilarious.
