This is gonna sound corny as fuck, but I kinda wish Jeter was around tonight. Posada too. Would love to hear those Core 4 guys talk about their experiences in the Yankees/Red Sox Rivalry, their 9/11 experiences and hear their reactions to the attack in Boston. They kinda have a unique perspective on everything that nobody else really has. I mean of course at the end of the day they’re just baseball players. Not like they’re first responders or victims or directly connected. But Mike Piazza’s home run after 9/11 was one of the more heroic things I’ve seen in sports, so these guys definitely have an effect on their fans and their city and in certain circumstances, the country. After a nice moment of silence and a bizarro world singalong of Sweet Caroline, I wish you could hear some of those Yankees veterans give their reactions to the scene.
