Kevin Youkilis Says "I'll Always Be A Red Sock"

USA Today - “I’ll always be a Red Sox,” Youkilis told ESPN New York. “To negate all the years I played for the Boston Red Sox, and all the tradition, you look at all the stuff I have piled up at my house and to say I’d just throw it out the window, it’s not true. “Those were great years in Boston. One bad half-year doesn’t take away from all the great years I had there.”

First thing’s first I hate when you have to type out or say the singular version of Red Sox. Red Sock just looks and sounds so stupid.

Secondly, everything Youk said is completely true. But does he really need to be saying it? He could have even just said all the stuff about one half a season doesnt negate all those good years. Just don’t need to drop the “I’ll always be a Red Sock” line. Its obviously not the end of the world but for half the fans out there who already didn’t want him on this team for one reason or another, its just an annoying thing to hear. At the end of the day if you perform nobody cares about anything you say, but the minute Youkilis struggles its quotes like this that become back-page fodder for the Post and News that gives everyone a headache. Rational people realize this isn’t a big deal but guess what? There’s a fucking LOT of irrational people out there. Just stupid to say anything that makes an already awkward transition even more awkward.

PS – Almost 100% of the time I think its retarded when people make a big deal about switching teams involved in a rivalry. Almost all these guys are basically hired mercenaries and are just doing their job for millions from whoever hires them. But I must admit, a guy like Youkilis who really embodied all that was the Red Sox is a little bit of a different story. If he didn’t have that falling out with Boston I bet it actually would be one of the few instances where switching sides would be a bit of an issue. Much more so than with that half-retard Johnny Damon. Half the time I don’t think Johnny knew where he was playing.

UPDATE: Not only did the cover of the Daily News and the Wall Street Journal say “Red Sock” but that was Youkilis’ direct quote. So for all you idiots trying to tell me the correct way to say it is “he’ll always be a Red Sox,” you’re all idiots. If you say that you’re a dumb person. Plain and simple. Sounds weird and looks weird to say Sock. Sounds even stupider to say “he’s a Red Sox.”
