Dude Now Has To Marry His Chick Because They Swore To Get Hitched When The Ravens Made The Super Bowl

Baltimore SunThis is what kind of roll the Ravens are on now: they’ve even inspired a love story. It stars an Overlea couple named Daisy Sudano and Jim Pellegrini, who will travel to New Orleans next week and tie the knot the day before the Ravens play the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. Their story begins on Jan. 28, 2001, when they went on their first date. This was at the big Ravens’ Super Bowl party at the old Bohager’s nightclub in Fells Point . As die-hard fans, both were excited. The Ravens had made it to their first Super Bowl and beat the New York Giants. By 2003, they were living together. As the years went by, there was a growing sense that the two were destined for each other. In the ensuing years, whenever folks asked when they were going to get married, Daisy’s answer was the same: “When I win the lottery or the Ravens make it to another Super Bowl.” People thought she was kidding. Except she really wasn’t. In 2008, the Ravens made it to the AFC Championship game. “This could be the year!” Jim cackled to Daisy. But in a bitter defensive struggle, the Ravens lost 23-14 to the Steelers. The wedding plans were still on hold. In 2011, the Ravens again made it to the AFC Championship. This time the opponent was the  Patriots. But when Flacco’s pass to wide-out Lee Evans was dropped in the end zone and Billy Cundiff shanked a 32-yard, game-tying field goal attempt, the Ravens were 23-20 losers. To get to the Super Bowl this year, the Ravens would have to beat the Patriots in a re-match of last year’s AFC Championship at Gillette Stadium. It was Daisy’s 44th birthday. With 1:06 remaining, a Brady pass in the end zone was intercepted to put the dagger to the Patriots and seal the Ravens’ 28-13 win. “We looked at each other with tears in our eyes,” Daisy said. “And we hugged and kissed and said: ‘Finally.'”

You want to know the #1 way to get me to hate sports and cringe at the success of my favorite teams? Put marriage in the balance. There is no doubt the best day in Jim’s life was last year when Lee Evans dropped that gimmie TD & Cundiff shanked a chip shot for OT. To be honest, if that’s me, I’m dumping Daisy right on the spot and doing the Ray Lewis dance out the fucking door. If that improbable loss isn’t fate telling you this is NOT the broad for you, I don’t know what is. Fast forward a year and now he’s got his stupid wedding interrupting Super Bowl weekend in New Orleans? Fuck that. This should be a warning for you dudes out there who think your girl is awesome because she loves your team as much as you do. “Cool chicks” can ruin the big game, too. This is definitely a good idea though for someone who is, say, a fan of the Jets. Or Mets. Get your chick to agree to a championship wedding with either of those franchises deciding the date & your potential escape will never include you losing half your shit down the road.
