United Airlines Won't Honor Cheap Tickets Bought During Their Computer Glitch

Mashable - You could call it the sale of the century, but it’s becoming a monthly occurrence. United Airlines, due to a website glitch, is selling plane tickets for nearly no cost. One of our readers, who asked to remain anonymous, called the situation to our attention Monday afternoon, and gave us explicit instructions on how to exploit the glitch. We successfully tested the steps, but stopped one click short of purchasing the tickets — a roundtrip flight from Newark, N.J., to Dublin for $49.40, just the cost of taxes and fees. United had a similar problem in September, though NBC News reported that the issue was due to “human error” on the airline company’s part. United ultimately decided to honor the reduced-price tickets it sold because of that glitch. That’s not the case this time around, though. “We’ve identified an issue where customers are intentionally manipulating our website,” United spokesman Rahsaan Johnson told Mashable in an email. “We will not honor these reservations.”

This is the second time in two months United has fucked up and given away basically free tickets for their flights. But now they have decided they are so inept of an airline, they aren’t going to honor the tickets sold. Which of course is total bullshit. They are admitting they are so bad of a company, if something goes wrong, they’ll just get a do-over.

Doesn’t feel too good to get exploited, does it, United Airlines? A company that charges 25 dollars for you to check your first bag is complaining about being manipulated? Get out of my face with that. Airlines nickel and dime every inch of the way while providing as poor service as possible. Drinks are about 9 dollars each, and if you’re lucky you get a bag of peanuts if they decide your flight is long enough for you to deserve them. And good luck if you actually checked a bag. 50/50 you’ll see that within the next week.
