Trey Parker and Matt Stone Aren't Going To Stop Making South Park Until They Are Cancelled

IGN - Matt and Trey have expressed South Park fatigue before, but at this point they’re in it for the long(er) haul. “We won’t stop until we get canceled,” Stone said. “We’re renewing. They have to f***ing cancel us, goddammit!”

Well that’s the best news I’ve heard all day. South Park is a national treasure. Canceling it will never happen, which means we’re all in luck because South Park is one of the only shows that has to ability to continually re-invent itself and due to how quickly they make episodes, stay relevant and interesting. Who would have thought even 5 years ago that Randy Marsh would become Lorde? That an entire episode would be dedicated to the Redskins? That calling Kanye West a fishstick would be a thing? I have no idea how I would even want South Park to end, and they don’t really know either:

“I think it’s going to end with a fizzle, for sure,” Parker said with a laugh. “I think it’s just going to end with some dud, and we’re gonna go, ‘F*** this, man,’ and walk away.” Stone agreed, “Some sort of whimper. Either drop the mic, get sued, get thrown off television — something like that.”

Knowing Trey and Matt they will come up with something fucking brilliant as they always do. The good news is they will always be making side projects and the like, so we’ll never truly be without South Park.

PS: BASEketball is so wildly underrated of a movie. And when you think about it, it’s really funny that the writers of a cartoon somehow cohered their way into starring in a feature film. It’s nearly impossible to get a movie made, but that’s how big South Park had gotten.
