Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails Facetimes With Dying Fan While Onstage

Source - Photojournalist and concert photographer Andrew Youssef was diagnosed with stage-four colon cancer a little more than a year ago. A contributor to OC Weekly, he wrote a column in late September with the tragic news that experimental medications had not worked and that was entering palliative care. A die-hard Nine Inch Nails fan, he wrote another column in OC Weekly about flying to San Francisco to see the band, “realizing I could live with the fact I might not be able to see them on Nov. 8 at Staples Center,” and having the band ultimately invite him to hang out with them and watch them rehearse. This weekend at a concert in Vegas Trent Reznor gave Youssef another treat, FaceTiming him from stage and having the entire crowd wish him well. One commenter who says she was at the concert writes “It was so heartfelt on Trent’s part because he started with apology to us for being ‘off his game’ tonight and then explained why. I was crying and filming and chanting all at the same time. A rare moment to be a part of, and I dont mean because he is Trent Reznor. Because he is a human sharing his sadness and leaning on others for a moment.”

Every once in a while you see a story that proves that not all celebrities are egomaniacal twats only out to make money and get blowjobs or get a reality show. This is one such story. Trent didn’t do this for attention, or to get blogged about, he did it because he realizes that he is in the position to make someones last days that much better. Reminds me of how Chris Rock snuck a dying kid Pam Anderson’s sex tape. Some people just don’t suck.
