This Was A 6 Pitch Strike Out. Jayson Werth Didn’t Swing Once…And It Got Worse
Somehow, Jayson Werth was called out on strikes there. Half those pitches were on Mars, none hit the strike zone, but down he went on 6 pitches without taking the bat off his shoulder.
And then it got worse.
The game ended, and then Bucknor brought everyone back onto the field after calling it a foul tip. Was he still hoping the game would hit the over and he needed another shot at it?
If it’s not because he had the over, it could possibly be the worst call in baseball history. Has to be up there. Has to be.
Ray Knight was none-too-pleased:
Bucknor also did this earlier in the game:
And just for the record, he was terrible both ways:
It’s amazing he is allowed to ump at a major league level. And Werth let him know it:
Hopefully instead of suspending Jayson, the MLB will look at the tape and finally hold an ump accountable. Wouldn’t count on it, but maybe this is the turning point we needed.
