The Redskins Hired a Guy To Run PR For Their Team Name Debacle...And Then He Quit 2 Weeks Later

WJLA – Less than two weeks after being hired by the Washington Redskins, political blogger Ben Tribbett has announced plans to resign. Tribbett, 34, who was hired by the Redskins to help the team in its fight over its controversial name. He announced his decision to resign on his Twitter account on Monday.

Hilarious. It doesn’t get much better than that. The Redskins finally realized they couldn’t stop digging themselves deeper with this whole name debacle, so they hired a guy to handle the PR for them. To prove that the name isn’t racist, to push the controversy away. Sounds like a good idea on paper. But in typical Redskins fashion, they kinda didn’t look into Ben’s past, and kinda sorta missed the fact he once said the word “Redskin” itself was racist. And they kinda sorta missed some rather interesting tweets he sent while playing poker with a Native American, albeit a long time ago, which some may call racist.

So in even more typical Redskins fashion, he tweeted that he was going to resign before he actually resigned.

The name debate thing is so tiring, but it is extremely fascinating watching how the Redskins screw it up time after time after time. Snyder already said he’s never ever changing it. So that should be that. But instead of leaving it alone, he does everything possible to make people hate him and the name more. It’s absolutely incredible watching them fuck it up time after time after time.

So it was a good two week run for Tribbett, where he basically just mumbled through radio interviews and said the name isn’t racist (but he would never call a Native American a redskin to his face). Good work, Tribbett.
