SI - Washington Nationals fans will have an extra reason to cheer this season, as ticketholders will be rewarded with a free chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A everytime the bullpen records a save at home. The Washington Post reports the fast food chain and the team have agreed to a three-year deal for the promotion, which also includes signage on the outfield bullpen featuring Chick-fil-A’s famous cow mascots threatening to charge the mound. The chicken sandwich purveyors currently have a similar promotion with the Washington Wizards in which fans in attendance receive a free sandwich if an opposing player misses both free throws in the fourth quarter.

Well that’s the best news I’ve read all day. There are few things pure in the world anymore, but Chick-Fil-A sandwiches are one of the few. There is never a time when free Chick-Fil-A is a bad thing. And the Nats are going to win aboutttttt 120 games this year. That’s a shit ton of free sandwiches. I hope Matt Williams realizes that his job just got so much easier. If there is ever a doubt about pulling a pitcher or letting him finish off the win in the 9th, now he always always always has to go to the pen. It’s win-win, our 5 aces get rest, the fans get chicken sandwiches, and everyone goes home happy. The only problem here is that it’s just for home saves. The Nats might be up every game by 7 going into the 9th so so many games won’t be save situations. So I guess only expect 50 or so free sandwich days this year.
