The Falcons' New Stadium Has A Chick-Fil-A....That Won't Be Open On Sundays

WaPo - Seeing as how Chick-fil-A’s headquarters are located in Atlanta, it’s only logical that the fast-food chain have a booth at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the stadium that’s set to open for Falcons and Atlanta United games this month. But even though its NFL tenant plays most of its home games on Sundays, that doesn’t mean Chick-fil-A is changing its six-days-per-week operating hours.

As noted by ESPN’s Darren Rovell below and on the concessions map posted on the stadium’s website, the chicken purveyor will not be making an exception for the Falcons, staying closed on Sundays in keeping with company policy.

Seven of the Falcons’ eight regular season home games are on Sunday this season, the exception being a tilt against the Saints on Dec. 7, a Thursday night.

But Falcons fans who need their breaded-chicken fix on Sunday might have a good-enough substitute. Atlanta restaurateur and former “Top Chef” contestant Kevin Gillespie will be selling his COS chicken sandwich from a stand on the 200 concourse.

COS = “closed on Sunday.”

——————-

The hits just keep on coming for the Falcons, and this one might be worse than 28-3. They have this fancy new stadium, but it’s basically the pretty girl from home room who would smile at you because in reality all she wanted to do was copy your homework. Falcons fans can’t even get a hand job out of their pretty new stadium. First, their new fancy shmancy roof won’t open and shut correctly. They tried to put this state of the art, revolutionary dome on the stadium…

…and all that happened was it has to stay closed because the engineering nerds can’t quite figure it out.

And so what’s the next best thing to an open air football game? Chick-Fil-A, of course. And they won’t even get that either. There will be a Chick-Fil-A right there in Mercedez-Benz Stadium, and Falcons fans won’t even be able to eat there because as everyone knows, CFA is closed on Sundays.

And just as the cherry on top, this dude Kevin Gillespie is selling a “COS Chicken Sandwich”, probably for like $14, just to rub it in their faces.

For once I feel glad to be a Skins fan. Sure we’ll never make the Super Bowl and our stadium is a complete dump and we won’t give the best QB we’ve had in 20 years a contract extension, but at least it’s not a cocktease. The Falcons just can’t get out of their own way.
