London Fletcher Announces He Is 99% Sure He Is Retiring

london

Post – Linebacker London Fletcher announced on Wednesday that he will likely retire from the NFL after 16 seasons. Fletcher said at Redskins Park he is ”99 percent certain” he will retire after the season’s remaining two games. He said he must have one more conversation with his wife to make the decision final. “I felt like I’ve accomplished everything I wanted to accomplish in the National Football League,” Fletcher said. He said he wanted to have a chance to say goodbye to the fans at Sunday’s home finale against the Dallas Cowboys.

Nobody has ever said a bad word about London Fletcher. Guy is the pro’s pro, as cliche as that is. Has played in 254 consecutive games. Consistent as any player in terms of level of play. Won a Super Bowl in St. Louis. Went to the Pro Bowl four times with the Redskins, and should have gone to a couple more. No off the field problems, well liked by everyone. Sucks that he’s retiring, but he’s 38 now and has slowed down quite a bit from his prime. Plus, obviously recognizes that the Redskins are disaster and it’s as good of a time as ever to walk away.

Out of all the Dan Snyder era signings, Fletcher is probably the best. So finally, a reason to get excited about Dallas week. A reason for Skins fans not to sell their tickets to Cowboys fans. London Fletcher’s last game in burgandy and gold. Need to send him out with a win over the Cowboys.
