It's Still Baffling How The League That Wins The All Star Game Gets Home Field Advantage In The World Series

How does this continue to fly under the radar? We all know it and accept it, but it’s the most bizarre thing in all of professional sports. The winner of the All Star Game gets home field advantage in the World Series. It still sounds like a joke, and Bud Selig made that rule over 10 years ago. It’s been over a decade and it’s still a thing. That’s the most unbelievable thing to me. Selig freaked out in 2002 because the teams ran out of players and they had to call it a tie. Guess what? Nobody fucking cared. It’s an exhibition game. But for whatever reason, baseball thinks it’s so scary important and that their stupid All Star Game actually means something. Guess what…it doesn’t.

It’s a game where the fans vote for the players to start. Matt Wieters, who played in 26 games this season, was voted in as a starter. That’s what is deciding home field for the World Series. Derek Jeter, who is batting .272 with 2 home runs and 25 RBI and who can’t field a ground ball if it’s more than an arm’s length away is starting. That’s what is deciding home field advantage. Wainwright is starting over Kershaw. Chris Sale didn’t make the team at first. You can go on and on and on. It’s nuts that such a meaningless game is given so much meaning. Just think about how dumb everyone you know is. Think about the people who thought I was serious when I wrote that Jordan went out on top in a Wizards uniform. That’s who is voting for the All Star team, ultimately deciding what team gets home field in October. Bud Selig needs to change his diaper, pack his bag, and go home. There’s a reason baseball is declining in popularity, and it all starts with him. Every decision he makes sucks. He’s so far removed from what the general public likes, what we want to see, and how to grow the game. Instead, he sends cease and desists when his sport is as much as put into a GIF on a website. Savvy. So savvy.
