I Have Never Seen a Company Piss Off It's Fans Quite Like the WWE Did Last Night at the Royal Rumble
I guess first of all, goes without saying, if you don’t like or watch WWE, this blog might not be for you. It’s long. It will be good enough that you won’t have to like it to read it and understand it, but just want to preface it that maybe it’s not the blog for you if you’re not interested in the business.
That being said, last night’s Rumble was perhaps the worst ending I have ever seen in a wrestling event. And we have seen a ton of terrible endings. We’ve watched John Cena win the belt 100 times. We’ve watched our favorites get buried in favor of HHH and the Rock. But last night might have been the biggest load of bullshit they have ever stuck our faces in.
Daniel Bryan is the most over wrestler since the mid/late 90’s with the Rock and Stone Cold. Everyone loves DB. Nobody can get a word out ever because the fans just chant and cheer for Daniel.
He has become a phenomenon. His “YES” chant is featured in fucking commercials on ESPN ffs.
During last night’s title match that literally nobody cared about, all the crowd did was chant for Daniel Bryan. During the rumble itself, all the crowd did was chant for Daniel Bryan. And Daniel Bryan, the most popular and over superstar on the roster, was not even included in the match. Pure lunacy. The reason? The powers that be hate you, they hate me, they hate Daniel. They love John Cena and that he can sell tshirts to 13 year old girls.
Imagine the scene if DB came out 30th and won the Rumble. Would have been a top 5 moment anyone would ever see. The crowd would have been louder than any crowd has ever been. It was a perfect moment that they totally disregarded for the absolute bullshittiest of reasons. They just refuse to let him win anything. No matter how popular he is, no matter how much everyone wants to see it, they refuse to let him win.

So they bring back 45 year old flabby tit Batista and let him win. AND THEY EXPECTED PEOPLE TO LIKE IT. That’s the truly remarkable thing about this. They expected a positive crowd reaction. Instead, they got their faces booed to eternity. And rightfully so. Fans are tired of this. Tired of bringing back old, washed up guys who don’t care about the fans. Tired of guys being shoved into the spotlight so they can promote a movie and never show up in the WWE again. Meanwhile guys like Ziggler and Bryan are continually buried and never given their shot. It’d be like if Mark McGwire, in the prime of his 70 home run season, was made to hit 9th in the lineup and then not even play in the biggest games. Would still get the loudest pops from the crowd, but wouldn’t be allowed to capitalize on it.

It really was just sad to see that the WWE big wigs Vince and HHH really don’t have this “long term plan” for DB that everyone has been hoping for. They just don’t want him to be popular. They’ve tried 100 times to bury him to no avail. And they will never let him win. It’s pathetic what they did last night, and I’m done. So refollow me on Twitter.
