RCNKY - A man is behind bars on Friday afternoon after leading police agencies on a 42-mile, 50-minute pursuit. According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began at the 6.6 mile marker on I-275 and ended in Corinth. Five different police agencies were involved.  Jeremy Carf, 37, of Aurora, Indiana, was ultimately taken into custody. At 5 a.m. Friday, Boone Deputy Drew Christian observed a Dodge Caravan going 90-miles per hour in a 65 MPH zone, and attempted to stop the driver on eastbound I-275. At first, Carf began to slow his van but then he sped up and continued on. Speed during the chase ranged from 40 to 80 miles per hour. He avoided stop sticks on I-75 southbound twice. As the pursuit headed through Williamstown, Carf called Boone County Dispatch and said that he was scared to stop because he was high, drunk, and had just broken up with his girlfriend. A dispatcher was able to get him to stop in Corinth.

What a vicious circle for this guy. He’s running from the cops because he’s drunk, high, and scared, but he can’t pull over for the cops because he’s drunk, high, and scared. He’s not making excuses, he’s just telling it as it is. Did the Chip routine and called up the officers to let them know he was a little bit high…excuseeeeee meeeee

Obviously we can’t condone the whole DUI, reckless driving thing, but once the wheels were already in motion, his reasoning for not stopping was rock solid. The beer was fueling his drive, the weed was making him too paranoid to stop. An unfortunate situation for him to find himself in, but I appreciate the honesty. And not a shock this whole saga was because him and his girlfriend broke up. Chicks, man.
